Salmon Rowing in Korkeakoski
The Korkeakoski branch of the Kymijoki River is one of Finland's best fishing grounds for salmon and sea trout. The best time for rowing is between the end of March and the beginning of June. In spring, the aim is to catch a large and bright sea trout on the line. In August the salmon season starts and continues until October. By late autumn, the target fish is again a bright rising trout. Saltwater fishing is particularly recommended in October, when the Gunnar Strait, the hottest area in the rowing area, is used for private fishing.
Kymi Fishing has a cosy shelter by the Korkeakoski rowing area where you can stop for a picnic.
Next to the lodge is the magnificent Kymi Beach Sauna, which can be included in your rowing day services for an additional fee.

Predatory fish
Salmon
Salmon in the Kymijoki River are large, with an average weight of around six kilos. Once in the river, the salmon stop eating completely. In this case, fishing is based on trying to get the fish to irritate the lure. The salmon teaches the fisherman patience, but in skilled hands the catch is good.
Sea trout
The sea trout that rise in the river are large. Trout can be caught in the river all year round, but the best times to catch them are from April to May and from November until the ice sets in.
